Federal government moves to complete Abuja -Kaduna Road Project

Abuja -Kaduna Road Project

The Nigerian government is adopting new measures to ensure speedy completion of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano road project without further delay.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works and Housing, Mahmuda Mamman disclosed this during an assessment visit to monitor the pace of work on the Abuja-Kaduna section of the roads.

The 375-Kilometers Abuja-Kaduna-Kano road project which was awarded by the Buhari administration in 2017 to the tune of 797.2 billion naira was with a mandate to be completed in 36 months.

Although actual work on the roads commenced in 2018, however 6 years on, the project is yet to be completed.

Speaking during an assessment visit to the Abuja-Kaduna section of the roads, permanent secretary of the Ministry of Works and Housing, Mahmuda Mamman decried the slow pace of work, but assured that the road will be completed without further delay.

The contractor handling the project highlighted insecurity among other challenges for the delay.

Mamman insisted that the road is a priority, for the federal government and hence current administration will not abandon it due to it strategic nature.
