As the raining season begins in earnest, some communities in Kaduna are now meeting to see how they could avert flooding through self-efforts in their areas.

In Tsuanin Kura, a community in Sabon Tasha, some of the residents are appealing to the government for help especially as the rains are expected to be heavy. They said their efforts may not be enough if the government neglects them.

The rains are here, the roads are filled with stagnated water and each passing vehicle creating deeper potholes.

To alleviate their sufferings the Tsuanin Kura community in Sabon Tasha, have, therefore, resorted to self-help to prevent flooding in their areas.

With no pipe-borne water and some basic social amenities, the residents claimed that despite paying higher ground rent, the presence of the government is not being felt.

According to the residents, it is important to put in place measures to safeguard their community from the natural disaster. They emphasised that the government must look in their direction to give them hope for a better tomorrow.

There are fears that the rains may cause more havoc in some communities in Kaduna, but the communities insisted they will do whatever it takes to prevent it because a stitch in time saves nine.
