Job scam: Man arrested for alleged extortion

A 37-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly extorting money from people in the name of job placements at the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC.

The man was said to have been apprehended by personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps, in Zamfara State, after he went to announce at the ungwar Gwaza mosque of the purported job placements.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Uchechukwu Wihioka, told journalists that the job syndicate, went to Mosques in Gusau Metropolis, where he asked the Deputy Imam, Aminu Maidalla, to inform the youth, that there are job placements at the FRSC.

The FRSC Zamfara State Sector Commander says, the suspect collects from each of his victims, two thousand Naira.

Thereafter, they are expected to pay thirty five thousand naira into an account number which he gave the victims.

Uchechukwu Wihioka advises members of the public to be wary of job syndicates to avoid falling prey.

The suspect, Ismail Abdullahi, who says he is a Zonal Director of the Food Hygiene and Safety, however denies that he told the deputy imam that the job placement was for the FRSC.

The suspect has been handed over to the Nigeria Police for further investigation and prosecution.
