FCT Kidnap: Teenage girl regains freedom after undisclosed ransom payment

Fourteen year old Agnes Akwachi, kidnapped by gunmen on Sunday morning at Chinchimpe Village of Mpape in Bwari area council of the Federal Capital Territory has regained her freedom.


The girl’s father, David Akwachi who confirmed this to ait.liveon Wednesday said Agnes was released after an undisclosed amount was paid as ransom.

She was kidnapped when seven gunmen stormed her father’s house at Chinchimpe Village, vandalized the house and gained access into the building.


The FCT Police Command on Monday however told newsmen that the abducted Agnes Akwachi was released following a hot chase by the police, a completely different account of the story from Agnes’s father
One of the community leaders also told ait.live that the kidnappers initially demanded thirteen million naira, amount but agreed to collect three million naira after a series of negotiations.


This is the first of several attacks on Chinchimpe Village this year with a number of people abducted and others killed.
