The people of Amaeke community in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State have appealed to the Federal Government to come to their aid as earth tremor is ravaging their community.
The community leaders, Jerry Eleonu and Chukwuemeka Oluoha who spoke to ait.live explained that they woke up four days ago and noticed that some of their buildings had collapsed.
They observed that this is the first time the community is experiencing such natural disaster and that the residents are now living in fear and have no other place to relocate.
Speaking while inspecting the areas affected by the earth tremor, the Permanent Secretary-Designate of the State Ministry of Environment, Tom Okoro, also appealed to the Federal Government to intervene as it is beyond what the State Government can handle.

Okoro also visited the site of the collapsed 3-storey building in Umuahia where he warned members of the public to always seek government’s approval before constructing their buildings.
