FIFA Secretary-General, Fatma Samoura, says the change in policy is due to unpaid allowance issues involving Nigeria.

Ahead of the tournament, head coach of the Super Falcons, Randy Waldrum, claimed that some of his players have not been paid their allowances and bonuses for two years

The development caused a stir and almost affected the preparation of the players with most of them insisting on staying away from training to protest their unpaid bonuses.

Samoura acknowledged that things have been tough for the Nigerian ladies.

FIFA had announced that every player participating in the World Cup group stage would earn 30,000 dollars

The match bonuses will increase to 60,000 dollars in the second round of the competition
