The Peoples Democratic Party in Taraba State has held its first State working committee meeting in 2023 to address critical issues affecting the party and strategize for the Local council polls expected to hold in October.
The meeting, presided over by Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, was also to address the party’s chairmanship crisis as the top contenders, Inuwa Bakari and Abubakar Bawa, have been asked by the party to withdraw their case from the court for internal resolution.
Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas spoke on the need to select the best from the aspirants to contest in the forthcoming elections.
The State Working Committee meeting is expected to chart a way forward in the party’s internal crisis following the replacement of the Acting Chairman of the party in the State, Inuwa Bakari, with Abubakar Bawa, a former Special Adviser on Political Affairs in the past administration.
Both have been at loggerheads in court over who should be the rightful chairman of PDP.

The meeting is also an avenue for the party to strategize on achieving a successful outing in the forthcoming Local Government Councils election and the anticipated by-election for Jalingo/Zing/Yorro federal Constituency, following the death of the member-elect Yushua Maihanci of the PDP, few weeks to his inauguration.
The meeting later proceeded into a closed-door session, and one of the resolutions reached is that litigations by Inuwa Bakari and Abubakar Bawa over the chairmanship of the party should be withdrawn from the court for an amicable in-house solution.
