Cross River State Government has taken its Covid-19 Community testing to Cameroon/Nigeria border villages in Boki Local Council Area of the state.
The Chairman of Covid-19 Task Force Response Team and the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Betta Edu, said Boki was chosen to commence the community testing due to its suspected high risk because of the boundary it shared with southern Cameroon which already has huge confirmed index cases.
Edu said that the Task Force will visit other local government areas to activate case search and surveillance intelligence in a bid to get more information and testing for Coronavirus pandemic among the citizenry and respond swiftly when the need arises.
On his part, the Chairman of Bashua Council of Traditional Rulers, Joseph Bewang, commended the state government for starting community testing in his domain, stating that the whole Bashua Clan is aware that Covid-19 is real.

The Health Commissioner used the period to distribute free face masks to the community members, assuring that the results of the sample collected will be returned to them to give clean bill of health with respect to Covid-19 disease status.
