The Edo State Campaign Council of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the September 19 governorship election have condemned the attack on Governor Godwin Obaseki and other PDP Governors at the entrance of the Palace of the Oba of Benin while on a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty Oba Ewuare II for the official flag-off of the party’s campaign.
Chairman of the Council, Dan Orbih, conveyed the message of the party at a media briefing which held in Benin City.
The PDP National Working Committee led by the Chairman, Uche Secondus and several PDP Governors were on ground to see to a successful take-off of the party’s governorship campaign in Edo State.
The entourage deemed it fit to pay obeisance to the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’oba N’edo Uku Akpolokoplo, Oba Ewuare II.
They were greeted by rampaging youths who had laid siege at the Palace gate.
This act, Chairman of the State PDP Campaign Council said, is wrong in its entirety.
Chairman of the Campaign Council harped on the dangers associated with such mayhem.
Orbih laid the blame squarely at the feet of the opposition party in the state.

He wants the relevant Security Agencies to step in and bring the perpetrators to book.
Governor Obaseki at his campaign flag-off had called on the PDP faithful to eschew violence and not retaliate no matter the provocation.
