Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia says the federal government has planned to reconstruct the homes of displaced people in the state, dispelling rumours about his administration ceding land for the establishment of an animal colony.
Alia, through his spokesman, Tersoo Kula, said the clarification became necessary because of a story on social media that Benue is on the list of states to get Fulani colonies.
Kula maintained that it is a burning desire of Governor Hyacinth Alia and the present administration to return the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) back to their homes, as soon as possible.
He further explained that since most of their houses have been destroyed by the gun-carrying marauding herders, the federal government of Nigeria under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu has agreed to sponsor the reconstruction of new homes for the Internally Displaced Persons
