Disagreements leads to Cross River PDP Congress Shift

Today’s scheduled Congress of the Peoples Democratic Party in Cross River State has been postponed to next Saturday.

Though no official reason was given for the postponement by the National Secretariat of the party, the outgoing Cross River State Publicity Secretary,Egbung Odama Egbung confirmed to ait.live that further information with regards to the issue will be given *”in a matter of hours”

ait.live gathered that the PDP National Assembly members from Cross River state have been at loggerhead with Governor Ayade over control of party structures at both state and local government levels.

The postponement according to the information available to ait.live was to enable the Governor who is tradionally regarded as the leader of the party, and the National Assembly members harmonise the Congress lists for a “fruitful results during the Congress.

Last night, there was a last-minute fence-mending meeting between the Governor and members of the National Assembly from the state, which lasted till the early hours of Saturday.

This is with a view to arriving at consensus candidates for the various positions in the state party executive committee.

A leader of the party and former Governor, Liyel Imoke had earlier on Friday morning issued a statement calling on the two sides to respect the party heirachy “n a the spirit of give and take”
