Kogi Election: Military Arrests five Suspected Political Thugs With Ak-47 Assault Rifles

Kogi State

The Nigerian Army has arrested and disarmed five suspected political thugs in Anyingba, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.

A military task force said the thugs were arrested around the Unity Square in Anyingba while exchanging gunfire with rival gangs in the town.

The task force also said that the sustained gunfire attracted the military task force made up mostly the Army and some Navy personnel who quickly cordoned off the area.

In a mop-up operation that lasted over one hour, the task force said it captured five of the about 12 armed thugs who were driving in two Toyota Sienna Buses which were eventually impounded.

The MURI/Sam Campaign Organization has appealed to the Federal Government, particularly the Nigerian Army not to bow to pressure to set the suspected political thugs free.
