A close associate of President Muhammad Buhari, Aminu Balele Kurfi, has debunked suggestions in sections of the media that the President’s nephew, Damman Daura, was urgently flown to the United Kingdom after developing COVID -19 complications.
Kurfi described the story as fake news. He affirmed that Daura did not show any sign of illness when he attended the funeral prayer for a late journalist, Wada Maida, on Tuesday noting that Daura is only on a routine medical check-up to the united kingdom.
He hinted that at 80 years, it is only natural that one undertakes medical checks from time to time.
Kurfi suggested that as a citizen with a clean record, Daura is free to seek medical services anywhere.
He also noted that the UK Authorities will not allow a COVID-19 patient into their territory as the world continues to grapple with the pandemic.
Nigeria suspended air travels on March 23 to curtail the spread of Coronavirus.
Domestic flights, however, resumed on July 8, while international flights are scheduled to restart on August 29, so concerns are raised when the exemption to travel was approved for Daura.

It is unclear why an exemption was made for Mr. Daura to fly out of the country for routine medical tests.
