As nations prepare to bounce back from the effects of the COVID-19 disease, the President of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, CITN, Gladys Olajumoke, has called for tax waiver on personnel income tax.
The Taxation Institute President made the call during the council retreat/meeting for 2020-2021 presidential year held in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
Nigeria’s economy like many others was severely hit by the COVID-19 disease.
Though, both the federal and state governments have risen to the challenge by pronouncing some palliative measures to enterprises in order to fast track economic recovery, Olajumoke said there is need to look inward and grant tax waivers on personal income.
She said taxation as the professional practice is dynamic due to external environmental factors, the retreat, therefore, aims at building capacity amongst council member for the good of the CITN.
