It appears the Plateau State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP is still in disarray after a divisive leadership crisis.

Barely hours to the conduct of the State Congress on Saturday, some aggrieved aspirants called for the cancellation of the exercise in the interest of all. The group of aspirants numbering about 38 boycotted the state elective congress.

The aggrieved members queried the party’s National Working Committee, NWC for carrying out deliberate plans to disenfranchise some of the would be aspirants vying for various positions in the party. They called on the NWC to reverse its decision to hold the congress, until every issue has been resolved.

Meanwhile, 2 members of the newly reconstituted caretaker committee, Professor Dimis Mailafiya and Jacob Dashe are said to have withdrawn their membership from the committee.

As at the time of filing this report, the state congress was in progress. Earlier, State PDP Caretaker Committee Chairman, Senator Suleiman Odokwe and the Chairman of the Electoral Congress Committee from the PDP National Secretariat, Major-General Kweskebe (Rtd) while briefing newsmen at the party’s State Secretariat said the Congress will go head. They denied any knowledge of some aggrieved aspirants boycotting the exercise.
