Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, South-East Nigeria says he will do everything within his powers to ensure that peace and order reign in every part of the state.
The Governor gave the promise when he met with some Leaders of Thoughts in the State at the Government House in Enugu.
The meeting followed last months’ crisis between members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Department of State Services Enugu State Command in Emene area of the state.
The Governor however directed all the 17 Local Government Chairmen of the state and the traditional rulers to ensure effective security checks in their various areas.
Addressing journalists at the end of the closed doors meeting, the leader of the group, the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo Nnia Nwodo said the meeting was timely considering the current security threats in the state and the activities of herdsmen.
He said the Governor was concerned about the safety of the people as the Chief Security Officer of the state.

According to Nwodo, the Leaders of Thought passed a vote of confidence in Governor Ugwuanyi and his administration security road map; and urged him not to relent in his efforts to protect the state.
