The Nigerian Senate has resumed plenary, eleven days after it adjourned session to allow Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government to defend their estimates for 2024 Fiscal year at Committee stages.
The Upper chamber adjourned plenary on December 1, 2023 to allow standing committees scrutinize the 27trillion Naira Appropriation Bill presented to the joint session of the National Assembly by President Bola Tinubu.
The Lawmakers resolved to adopt a joint session of Senate and House committees to expedite the process, in order to achieve the January – December Budget circle.

The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio has asked the Committee on Appropriation to ensure that its report is ready for presentation and passage on the 19 of December 2023 before embarking on the annual Christmas break.
The 2024 budget deficit is projected at N9.18 trillion.
