Governor, Douye Diri

In an era where society is faced with issues such as legal disputes and social injustices, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State says it’s imperative that the legal system in Nigeria gains the trust of the people and be seen to be credible.

Governor Douye Diri made this assertion shortly after swearing in two new Judges of the state high court of Justice and State Customary Court of Appeal this Wednesday at the Executive council chamber in the government house, Yenagoa.

It is the first official assignment of the governor shortly on his arrival to the state after a vacation out of the country.

The two Judges who have served as registrars at the State High Court and Customary Court of Appeal took turns to take the oath of office and allegiance.

Governor Douye Diri gives reasons why the judiciary needs more manpower to function effectively and that he has faith in the ability of the newly sworn-in judges in carrying out their duties diligently and with all fairness

The new Judges are Amaebi Orukari for the High Court of Justice while David Opokuma is of the Customary Court of Appeal.
