Acting Comptroller-General of Nigerian Agriculture Quarantine Service, NAQS, Godwin Audu

The Acting Comptroller-General of Nigerian Agriculture Quarantine Service, NAQS, Godwin Audu, has outlined three focal points of his administration that would ensure easy flow of business for Nigerian exporters.

This is contained in a statement released by the Agency in which the new Acting Comptroller-General outlined Ease of Doing Business, Addressing Double Taxation, with Discipline and Inclusion as three-point agenda to improve business confidence for exporters.

According to the statement, NAQS is committed to enhancing the export environment by expediting inspection and certification services, streamlining application processes, and automating quarantine procedures. These efforts the statement says aim to significantly make life easier for agro-exporters and
reduce the processing time for agricultural export documentation.

The Agency maintains that it will optimise operations at inter-state control stations to
minimise delays in the haulage of agro commodities as collaborative efforts with
stakeholders will address and eliminate illegal operators causing bottlenecks on federal highways.

The new NAQS boss, Godwin Audu highlighted the importance of maintaining discipline, order, and inclusiveness within the organisation. This commitment will ensure the development of officers and the sustainability of equal opportunities for all personnel.

Audu took over the leadership of the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service, following the handover by the Agency’s pioneer Comptroller-General, Vincent Isegbe at the expiration of his tenure on the 12th of December, 2023, in accordance with the NAQS Establishment Act which requires that the authority be handed over to the next
most senior Director in the Agency to step in, in an acting capacity.
