The YPP governorship candidate in the 2023 election in Akwa Ibom State, Senator Albert Akpan and the YPP structure in the state including over 500 high-profile politicians have defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The event took place at the country home of the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
It was a solemn moment as a crowd of YPP faithful in Akwa Ibom State led by the governorship candidate of the party in the 2023 elections, Albert Akpan assembled at Ukana, the country home of the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio to officially collapse the YPP structure for the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Akpan, amidst ovation and cheers from supporters, said the resolve to move to APC was the unanimous decision of the leadership of the YPP in the State and promised to support the Senate President and his new party, the APC.
The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, commended the YPP family in the State for their decision to join the APC, while the state party chairman, Stephen Ntukekpo received the decampees, assuring that they will enjoy all rights and privileges as members of the party.
The state chairman of YPP, chairman campaign council, former national and state assembly members, chief of staff to former governor Udom Emmanuel and other high profile politicians in the state also joined senator Akpan to the broom party.
