Nigerian Navy Arrests Suspected Drug Dealers In Kogi

The Nigerian Navy Ship, Lugard, has arrested two suspects with 400 kilogrammes of substances suspected to be cannabis sativa at Ajaokuta, Kogi State.

Commander, Nigeria Navy Ship, Lugard, Commodore Ugochukwu Ajulu, said this while handing over the suspects and the illicit substances to NDLEA personnel at the Naval Base, Banda, lokoja.

Commodore Ugochukwu noted that the Navy checkpoints in Kogi State have been very active and was yielding results in line with the mandate of the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla.

The Commander, NNS Lugard implored Nigerian youths and other individuals involved in illicit drug use and trafficking to desist and engage in legitimate businesses that would not land them in jail.

Receiving the suspects and contraband, the Officer in Charge, Strike Force, NDLEA, Kogi State Command and Superintendent of Narcotics, Olorunfemi Abolarinwa,
explained that there existed a robust synergy between the NDLEA and Nigeria Navy as well as other security agencies which has led to major seizures and arrests in the state.

He assured the naval authorities that the suspects will be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted appropriately.
