Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu has decried the inability of generating plants across the country to work at optimal capacity to generate electricity that will serve the power needs of consumers nationwide.
The Minister who expressed the concerns during his Southwest tour to assess Nigeria’s power plants in Olorunsongo in Ogun State and Omotoso in Ondo State, said the visit is to seek ways on how the Federal government can effectively manage the challenges which have continued to drop electricity generation in the country.

Adelabu further disclosed that plans are underway to sell some of the generation plants to private investors as parts of ongoing efforts to maximise the capacity of the plants with a view to finding lasting solutions to electricity supply challenges in the country.
Electricity generation has continued to drop in Nigeria amidst several government interventions which has gulped billions of Naira in the last ten years, leaving consumers to grapple with epileptic power supply over the years.
