With the rising inflation rate worsening the cost of living in Nigeria, some women around the Kpakungu area of Minna, the Niger state capital have blocked the highway in protest.
The women chanting solidarity songs said the prices of foodstuff keep skyrocketing every day which is making them hardly feed their children.
The protest was however later hijacked by some youths and miscreants who blocked the roads but, the police authority sang into action to bring the situation under control.
The Niger State Deputy Governor, Yakubu Garba addressed the protesting women telling them that the Governor, Umar Bago has promised to look into the situation.
As at the time of this report, the area is tense as residents have decided to avoid the area.
