The House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Midstream) has applauded the swift intervention by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) following the arrest of the Moldovan Vessel in Bayelsa State Creeks containing approximately 88,000 litres of stolen products suspected to be crude oil.

Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Prince Henry Odianosen Okojie made this disclosure while speaking to press at the National Assembly Complex – Abuja.

The Lawmaker frowned at the activities of crude oil theft, noted that illegal oil activities have posed very serious threats to the Niger Delta region. Decried that the Nation has continually lost huge revenues to oil thieves and pipeline vandals which has affected the estimated revenue projections in the Oil and Gas sector.

Hon. Okojie who saluted the braveness and intervention of Capt. Wariedi Enisuoh, Executive Director (Operations), Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), also commended the collaborative efforts of the Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for the intersection of the Moldovan Vessel in Oporoza, headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South West Local Government Area in Bayelsa State.

Hon. Okojie who also represents Esan North East/Esan South East Federal Constituency of Edo State, called on TSSNL and other security agencies including locals to further improve their synergy in curtailing illegal oil bunkering activities across the Nation.

He further urged the Nigerian Police to carry out a holistic investigation on the alleged looting of our Nation’s assets and ensure that the arrested Captain, crew members and other community accomplices involved in this, are made to face the full wrath of the Law.

In another development, Hon. Okojie has lauded the proactive efforts of the Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) in addressing the challenges facing the Nation’s Pipelines.

The  Lawmaker while affirming the high levels of pipeline availability networks, commended the removal of some Illegal connections by PINL. Furthermore, Hon. Okojie hailed the high technological approach by PINL which included the deployment of a medium range drone in securing the Nation’s Pipelines.

“The House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Midstream), will continuously provide the needed support within the legislative palace in ensuring safety for the Nation’s Pipelines”, Hon. Okojie concluded.
