Fulani communities in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, North-Central Nigeria said they have resolved to live in peace with their neighbours after series of attacks that bedeviled the area recently.
Leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN made this commitment during a peace engagement with the Mangu Council authorities and security operatives in an effort to end the cycle of violence in the area.
The herders condemned in totality the destruction of lives and properties in the area while expressing their resolve to give peace a chance. They called on all well meaning citizens to immediately stop the importation of mercenaries into the local government as they resolve to cooperate with government and security agencies towards restoring peace.
Council Chairman, Markus Artu who appreciated the Fulani for the bold step said development can only thrive in a society where there is peaceful coexistence. He warned crisis merchants and mischief makers to desists from such or face the full wrath of the law as the administration of Governor Caleb Mutfwang is not leaving anything to chance in dealing with crisis merchants.
