Nigerian President Ahmed Tinubu has reassured Nigerians that the battle against terrorism will persist until relative peace and safety across the entire country are achieved.

President Tinubu gave this assurance during the trooping and presentation of colours at the 60th anniversary of the Nigerian Defence Academy.

Colours hold significant meaning in military traditions, symbolizing a unit’s identity.

The Nigerian Defence Academy’s first national and regimental colours were presented in 1970 by the then Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon.

President Ahmed Tinubu is reviewing the parade for the trooping and presentation of new national and regimental colours at the diamond jubilee of the NDA, marking the end of the 10-year reign of the old colours presented by former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2014.

The old national and academy colours were retired, and the new ones were presented to the president.

The parade then marched from slow to quick time with the new colours.

In his address, President Tinubu commended past and present leadership of the NDA for their efforts in attracting clients from other African nations, emphasizing that the quality of training at the academy is capable of ending banditry.

He eulogized the armed forces for their undivided loyalty, emphasizing that the fight against insurgency continues until the entire country is secured.

The president also acknowledged the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who paid the ultimate price to defend the nation’s sovereignty and promised to prioritize the welfare of the armed forces to carry out its constitutional responsibilities.
