An official of the Internally Displaced Persons, IDP, camp in Abangena. Agan James Iorkyaa in Benue State, North Central Nigeria has warned of an impending food crisis if the lingering issue of farmers displacement is not urgently addressed.
james Iorkyaa argued that the nation’s food basket is being threatened as 90% of the State’s over 500,000 displaced persons are farmers who have been sacked from their ancestral homes and are therefore not engaged in any form of agricultural activity.

Philip Utsatse a middle-aged man from Guma local government area of the State fled his home with his wife and 4 children and are solely dependent on supplies from government or non governmental organisations.
Iorkyaa added that as the State grapples to contain the grave consequences of this prolonged humanitarian crisis other parts of the country will equally bear the brunt due to its ripple effect.
