Child Abuse: British government wants perpetrators brought to book

The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing says, there is a need for people to change their attitude and not use culture and religion as an excuse, for abusing children.

The British envoy who spoke to ait.live in an exclusive interview, and in solidarity with victims of gender based violence, said government at all levels, must ensure that, perpetrators are brought to justice.

She said that, though the number of gender based violence around the world was alarming during the lockdown, the people must learn to speak out and challenge some of the practices.

The British High Commissioner calls on governments to be accountable, and provide the needed support for victims of gender based violence.
