Operation Sahel Sanity troops neutralize 12 suspected bandits

Operation Sahel

Troops of Operation Sahel Sanity have in the last 3 weeks, neutralized 12 suspected bandits and recovered a total of 11 AK-47 rifles, 3 dane guns, and a large cache of ammunition during routine clearance operations in the northwest.

The acting director, defence media operations, Brigadier General Bernard Onyeuko said this at the Nigerian Army Super Camp 4, in Faskari, Katsina State.

He also said 11 illegal miners, 8 bandits’ collaborators, 4 suspected armed robbers and 3 suspected rustlers were arrested and recovered about 300 cows.

Brigadier General Onyeuko who was represented by the Nigerian army operations media coordinator, Colonel Aminu Iliyas, said the troops exhibited a high level of professionalism that led to the recorded successes.

He added that the successes were recorded in different states of the northwest including Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto and Kebbi.

Onyeuko further said during the clearance operations in the different areas, the troops met with stiff resistance from the bandits, but were able to overpower them, due to higher sense of tactics and expertise.

While commending the troops for their commitment and resilience, he stressed that the Nigerian army is resolute to bring to an end banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling and other sundry crimes in the Northwest zone.

Onyeuko also urged people in the area of operations to keep availing the troops with credible and actionable intelligence.
