Akwa Ibom Insecurity: NSCDC Arrests 13 For Illegal Mining, Smuggling Petroleum Products, Others

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps , NSCDC, Akwa Ibom state command has arrested 13 persons for various criminal infractions.

This was made known by the state commandant of the corps, Eluwade Eluyemi while parading the suspects in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.

Earlier this year, the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Eluwade Eluyemi read the riot act to criminally minded persons in the state to halt their activities as the corps would come after them.

True to his words, the state command has been recording successes, the recent being the arrest of two suspects for conveying adulterated diesel while three suspects involved in illegal mining activities in the state were also apprehended.

In collaboration with the Nigerian Navy, Six suspects were also nabbed for attempted petroleum products smuggling to Cameroun.

Two suspects involved in stealing household wires in Uyo also met their Waterloo.

Eluyemi warned perpetrators of crimes that the law will soon catch up with them and warned members of the public against buying stolen goods.
