Zamfara State

The Zamfara State Government has approved the immediate employment of two hundred and fifty youths, who will serve as road marshals with the Zamfara Road Traffic Agency, (ZAROTA).

They are to help reduce road congestion and accidents on some major roads in the state.

According to a statement by the Director General of Media and Communication at the Government House, Salihu Anka, the employment, which is aimed at reducing unemployment among youths in the state, will also help cushion the present economic hardship being faced in the state and the country at large.

It said this was the resolution reached at the state’s Executive Council meeting, chaired by Governor Lawal, held at the council chambers of the Government House in Gusau.

The Sixteenth Executive Council Meeting also directed the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General to establish a tribunal that will be assigned the responsibility of handling traffic offences in the state.

Similarly, the meeting approved the provision of two trailer parks to reduce road congestion and other traffic irregularities caused by the drivers of articulated vehicles.

During the meeting, Governor Lawal received comprehensive reports on the position of the various ongoing projects that cover the various sectors of the state.
