Workers in Ondo State, Southwest Nigeria under the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) joined the nationwide, marching from its Secretariat at Alagbaka area to the Governor’s office in Akure, the State capital.
The protest march was led by the State NLC Chairman, Victor Amoko with hundreds of members of the Labour union carrying placards which conveyed various messages, inscriptions, urging the Federal government to urgently address the current hardship faced by Nigerians.
They also advised the President Bola Tinubu administration to fix the various abandoned refineries and curb insecurity in the country.
The State Head of Service, Kayode Ogundele who received the protesting workers thanked them for a peaceful precession.
He expressed optimism that the Government at the center will attend to the plights of the masses.
In Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, South south Nigeria, Governor Duoye Diri has received the message of protesting members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
The workers are asking the Federal government and relevant authorities to urgently take steps to reverse the current harsh economic situation to its former status before the situation gets out of control.
Joining their counterparts across the country on a peaceful protest in Yenagoa this Tuesday to express their dissatisfaction on the hardship in the nation, the NLC in Bayelsa State says if inflation is not checked, no amount of salary increase will make meaning to the workers
The workers who converged on the premises of the State’s Environmental Sanitation office at the Lambert Eradiri road, as early as 8:30 in the morning, marched through the busy Melford Okilo road carrying placards with various inscriptions as regards the current hardship faced by the citizens.
Led by the NLC State Chairman, Barnabas Simon, the protesters say instead of them to sit back and die in silence, they will rather die fighting for the well being of the people.
The protest march finally at the Government House, Yenagoa where they are addressed by Governor Douye Diri who acknowledged the difficult times the citizens are passing through, insisting that the only way to address the hardships is for the Federal government to restore the value of the Naira.

ait.live Correspondent in Awka, the Anambra State capital, Southeast of Nigeria, reports that the early hours of Tuesday morning seemed as if the NLC peaceful protest will not hold, as residents went about their normal businesses.
But, there was palpable tension as people insinuated that the heavy presence of security operatives within and around the Aroma area of the city, the converging point of the protesters before a take off march, was a plot by the authorities to intimidate members of the organized labour.
However, the arrived val of the State Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye to the venue helped clear the air and douse the already building tension.
CP Adeoye encouraged the people not to feel intimidated, explaining that the Police and other security operatives were there to provide adequate protection for the protesters, as well as to ensure that hoodlums do not hijack the peaceful precession
From Aroma junction, the protesters marched to the Anambra State Government House to drive home their demands and were addressed by the State Head of Service Theodora Igwegbe.
She commended the protesters for their peaceful conduct, excusing the Governor who in her words, went to inspect the site where there was a building collapse in Onitsha.
Igwegbe however promised to promptly present their demands to the Governor.
