Following the suspension of the nationwide protest by the National Executive Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, the Cross River State chapter is urging the state government to promptly implement the ₦30,000 minimum wage.
At a media briefing in Calabar, the state NLC Chairman, Gregory Olayi, reeled out workers’ struggles in the face of high cost of living.
Olayi also criticized the government for not implementing the wage award despite previous palliative payments.
Speaking on other issues affecting workers in the state, Olayi raised concerns about controversial policies affecting promotions and appointments in the state.
The NLC’s call for immediate action, underscores the urgency in addressing the economic challenges faced by the workers in Cross River State.
