Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has directed the immediate suspension of revenue collection on all farm produce marketed within the state for the next six months, as parts of ongoing efforts to stabilise prices of food commodities.
Governor Makinde, who gave the directive at a meeting with stakeholders in the Agriculture sector in Oyo State promised that his administration will continue to provide necessary measures to ensure that food is not just available but accessible to the people by mitigating the rising prices.
The gathering gave the Governor and the Farmers the opportunity to detect the problems causing food shortage and how to solve the issue. The farmers believe that the government decision will go a long way to help address the high prices on food commodities and other related issues.

Fallout of the meeting is the setting up of a 10-member committee by the Governor comprising of Agriculture stakeholders and government officials, with the mandate “to track all decisions reached at the meeting which will subsequently be reviewed in the coming six months.
