The University of Calabar, UNICAL, has initiated its inaugural Vice-Chancellor Scholarship Award Scheme celebrating academic brilliance, by honouring 34 exceptional students across 33 departments in the institution.
Speaking while addressing the awardees, Professor Obi said her investiture speech on December 1st 2020 laid the foundation for this remarkable scholarship, as she expressed her vision to elevate the university’s status as a global academic leader.
Emphasizing the high standards set for the beneficiaries, Professor Obi highlighted the requirement of maintaining an impressive Gross Productive Average GPA throughout their academic years, as the scholarship provided the students with remarkable 50 percent coverage of their charges.
Recipients of the scholarship commended the institution’s generosity, while acknowledging the new found inspiration to excel.
The Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship, sponsored by the management of the institution, is tailored to recognize and reward the top-performing students from each of the university’s 110 departments.
