TARABA
Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas

The Taraba State Government says it has followed all due processes in adopting rotation of the Takum chieftaincy stool among the three ethnic groups in the interest of peace, and to avoid any breach of security in Takum Local Government Area of the State.

Commissioner for Information and Re-Orientation, Zainab Jalingo calls on the ethnic groups involved to work together to ensure adequate representation of their kinsmen in the new arrangement.

Jalingo said a statement from the State Government became necessary following reports that one of the ethnic groups failed to attend a meeting organised by the Taraba State Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, ahead of preparation for the installation of the new mornach in Takum.

The 28-year-old tussle over the Takum chieftaincy stool is expected to be brought to an end, with the decision of the Taraba State Government to rotate the traditional rulership among the ruling houses from the three major ethnic groups in Takum Local Government Area.

It will be recalled that the Taraba State House of Assembly passed the bill which has been signed into law adopting the rotation of the Takum chieftaincy stool between the Chamba, Kuteb, and Jukun ethnic groups after a public hearing on the feud between the ethnic groups over the stool.
