The Nigerian Army has cancelled the remaining activities to be featured in the ongoing 2020 Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference billed to come to an end this weekend.

A statement by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sagir Musa says the reason behind the sudden cancellation of the annual exercise is due to the resurgence of Covid-19 Pandemic in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.

According to him, on Tuesday being 8th December 2020, a participating officer in this year’s ongoing COAS Annual Conference tested positive for Covid-19, which appears to be a second wave of the infection cycle.

This according to him, informed the decision to immediately discontinue the remaining activities of the conference.

The statement further mandated all participants to immediately proceed on self-isolation in line with the Federal Government’s protocol for Covid-19 and to prevent any further spread of the disease.

The statement however regretted the inconveniences this might have caused to the participants and other stakeholders participating in the conference.
