Nigeria and Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, are working towards upgrading the country’s digital technology with a view to improving the economy.
Nigeria’s Minister of Digital Economy and Communications, Olatunbosun Tijani and the President of Meta Global platforms, Nick Clegg ,disclosed the plans after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the State House, Abuja on Thursday.
The Minister explained that the collaboration will support Small and Medium enterprises which are leveraging technology to do businesses.
The President of Meta Global, Nick Clegg, explained that new tools will be made available on the App to add businesses across the country.
Multiple major submarine cable cuts in the Red Sea resulted in service disruptions in Nigeria and some countries in Africa about a week ago, but the Federal government says it is optimistic that the landing of submarine cables in Lagos and Oyo, a few days ago will increase the resilience of the country’s digital economy.
