The second wave of Covid-19 in Nasarawa State is hitting harder; recording more than 50 confirmed cases in a single a day.

The Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, who is also the Chairman, Covid-19 Taskforce in the state, Emmanuel Akabe, told AIT in Lafia, that the state has recorded more death cases, than the first wave.

Since the State government lifted the lockdown, people have been going about their normal businesses, and can be seen observing little or no Covid-19 precautionary measures.

The motor parks have returned to their usual hustle and bustle with crowd of passengers.

The markets have also been thick with trading activities with very little regards for Covid-19 protocols.

The Chairman Covid-19 Task Force said people should ensure they always comply with Covid-19 protocols established by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, (NCDC) to help curtail the spread of the virus.

He said while the State has no immediate plans for another lockdown; the government might be forced to do so to slow down the spread of the virus.

AIT was not allowed into the treatment centre at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital in Lafia, but the Chief Medical Director, Hassan Ikrama confirmed that there is only one Covid-19 patient.

He added that others have been discharged and are now on self-isolation at home.
