The Ebonyi State Police Command has rescued a kidnap victim, Solomon Umoke, abducted on January 30, 2021.
Umoke was reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen who attacked him, two of his brothers and one other person along the road at Isophumini II Ezzagu, Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Information released by the Police said the incident occurred at about 7:00 pm.
Spokesperson of the Command, DSP Loveth Odah, who confirmed this development in a statement, said the kidnappers had on February 3, 2021, contacted the victim’s family demanding a ransom of Ten million Naira.
Relying on intelligence, the Police were able to secure the release of the victim as operatives of the AK Unit stormed the kidnappers’ hideout at a forest near Iyioku River, Ezzagu Forest in Ishielu LGA of the State.
According to Odah, the kidnappers engaged the police in a gun duel opening fire on sighting the officers.

She said the Police eventually overpowered the Kidnappers and in the process rescued the victim with the criminals fleeing with gunshot injuries.
