The Kogi State government has debunked reports that it masterminded attacks on the witnesses of the Social Democratic Party, (SDP) in the ongoing tribunal case where the opposition party is challenging the victory of the All Progressives Congress in the November 2023 Governorship Poll.

The Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kinsley Fanwo, who gave the position of the Government during a media conference in Lokoja on Saturday, however accused the SDP of stage managing attacks on its own witnesses.

Since the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) declared Ahmed Usman Ododo of the ruling All Progressive Congress, (APC) the winner of the November 11 Governorship election in Kogi State, the opposition Socal Democratic Party, (SDP) candidate Muritala Ajaka has continued to reject the outcome of the election pointing some irregularities in parts of the State.

The opposition SDP reportedly accused the Kogi State Government of attacking some of its witnesses who appeared at the election petition tribunal.

This however has not gone down well with the current administration in kogi state hence the address by the State Commissioner for Information and Communications Kinsley Fanwo to clear the air on the weighty allegations.

The Commissioner insisted that the Kogi State Government does not subscribe to violence and actions that breach the peace of the State.

Fanwo also noted that it was totally unacceptable for the SDP to continue to exhibit anti-democratic tendencies and provoke the sensibilities of the people in such a reckless manner.

He appealed to the people of Kogi State to go about their normal businesses as nobody or political party can intimidate them.
