The Benue State Government, has proposed a death penalty as punishment, for human trafficking particularly of minors, arguing that aside kidnapping human trafficking remains the worst offence against humanity.
Deputy Governor of State, Benson Abounu, stated this while inaugurating the State taskforce on human trafficking in Makurdi the State capital.

The problem of human trafficking and irregular migration which have trapped a sizeable number of Nigerians in different locations, has become an issue of great national concern with Benue State most endemic for child trafficking, for domestic servitude.
The inauguration provides a ray of hope that crimes pertaining to child labour, abuse, or any form of human trafficking will be sufficiently contained particularly at the grass root.
