Congratulatory messages have continued to pour in for Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala following her emergence as the Director-General, World Trade Organisation, WTO.
The latest is coming from the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, who congratulated Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance on her appointment as the Director-General of WTO.
Onyeama on his verified Twitter handle said Iweala’s appointment as the first woman and first African to emerge as the Directo- General of WTO is well deserved.
The Minister stated that Nigeria is very proud of her achievements in the field of political economy.

Similarly, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has joined other Nigerians to congratulate Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on her appointment as the Director-General of the WTO.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Terverr Akase, Governor Ortom said her historic emergence as the first woman and the first African to lead the WTO attests to her impeccable record of public service at national and international levels.
He expressed confidence in the ability of former Nigeria’s Minister of Finance to bring her wealth of experience to bear on her stewardship of the World Trade Organization.
