Bauchi State Police Command confirms arrest of 28yr old suspected ritualist

The Police in Bauchi State have arrested a 28 year old suspected ritualist, Rufai Yunusa, at Rumbu village in Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

Rufai is also in police net for culpable homicide, having been allegedly involved in the killing of four children.

According to a statement signed by the Police spokesman in Bauchi, Ahmed Wakil, his arrest followed a complaint lodged at the Ganjuwa Police Division, by one Isyaku Ahmed of Anguwan Yamma, Kafin Madaki.

He said on 16th February 2021, that, he took his daughter to Rufai Yunusa who is a native doctor for traditional treatment, and the native doctor told him she is suffering from spiritual ailments and asked him to pay the sum of N10,000 for the treatment.

He added that he took the little girl into the forest purportedly for spiritual healing, and later returned to inform him that the little girl had mysteriously disappeared.

The statement said, Police swung into action, combed the entire forest, and found the slaughtered body of the little girl.

She was said to have been rushed to the hospital but was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

Police say, the ritualist has been arrested in connection with the crime and voluntarily confessed to the act.

Exhibits recovered from the suspected ritualist include one knife, 26 pairs of children clothing.

The statement further said, investigation is still on-going, after which the suspects will be charged to court.
