The introduction of Community policing is beginning to strengthening the internal Security in Cross River State, as the State Police Command rescued an 81- year-old traditional ruler abducted in Calabar South Local Government area by gunmen, last night.

The State police Commissioner, Sikiru Akande, who said that the rescue was a result of the intelligence received from the youths with the support from other security agencies, assured that some of the youths will be engaged in the police force.

Calabar South, is one of the local Govt areas known for high rate of insecurity in Cross River State, because the area is sorrounded by creeks and rivers, which made policing a difficult task.
