The introduction of Community policing is beginning to strengthening the internal Security in Cross River State, as the State Police Command rescued an 81- year-old traditional ruler abducted in Calabar South Local Government area by gunmen, last night.
The State police Commissioner, Sikiru Akande, who said that the rescue was a result of the intelligence received from the youths with the support from other security agencies, assured that some of the youths will be engaged in the police force.
Calabar South, is one of the local Govt areas known for high rate of insecurity in Cross River State, because the area is sorrounded by creeks and rivers, which made policing a difficult task.
But the youths say that was in the past, as they joined the security operatives in rescuing the their abducted traditional ruler whisked away by some kidnappers last Night.

Narrating his ordeal in the hands of his abductors, Eyamba who commended the police and the youths for the prompt response, said that he was scared of what would have happened to him in the Creeks.
Police Commissioner Akande, then warned that Cross River is not a safe haven for Criminals,hence anyone who engaged in unlawful act should either have a change of mind or relocate away from the State, as the full wrath of the law will catch up with them no matter how highly placed.
Kindapping which was a daily occurrence in Cross River State before now, is gradually becoming a thing of the past with the operation Akpakwu, Puff adder, Anti Kidnapping and Cultism patrolling the nooks and crannies of the State.
