At least four persons have reportedly been killed and 20 injured on Friday as the procession of proscribed members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria turned violent.
It was the yearly procession of members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria who had gathered to mark the International Quds Day.
The procession, which began from the Katsina roundabout to the Leventist underpass, suddenly descended into pandemonium with the sound of gunshots as the police attempted to disperse them.
According to the police in Kaduna, the IMN has been proscribed by the Federal Government, and their gathering was unlawful.
Spokesperson of the group, Yunusa Poly, who spoke to AIT via a telephone conversation, emphasized that the body is not proscribed.
This is not the first time that IMN members have held public processions that have turned violent in Kaduna.
