Some members of the national rescue movement on Friday stormed the national headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to protest exclusion of the party’s candidate in the 2024 Edo state Governorship election.
INEC had published the names of candidates for 17 out of 19 political parties that uploaded their candidates before the closure of the Portal.
After the conduct of primaries in Edo state, the independent national electoral commission INEC withheld the access code for NRM because two factions are laying claim to the leadership of the party’s presented candidates: Dennis aikoriogie from…leadership and Barrister Irabor Cosmas from Isaac Udeh faction
The protesters accused INEC acting director, Electoral Party Monitoring (EPM), Mrs Hauwa Habib of deliberate exclusion of its candidate from the list.
INEC commissioner, Abubakar akali who received the protesters commended their peaceful conduct and promised to ensure that both parties are given fair hearing.
