Police intercept stolen truck with goods worth over N30m

Truck allegedly stolen in Kaduna State and intercepted along Jos Road heading to Bauchi

Bauchi State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has intercepted a truck allegedly stolen with 35 tons of groundnut oil worth over N30 million while heading to Bauchi along Jos Road.

A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakili says the truck and the suspect were arrested following an intelligence report recieved by the Toro Divisional Police office reporting the theft of a trailer truck DAF CF 85 Model parked at the Maraban Jos Trailer Park area of Kaduna state which was on it way from Umuahia in Abia State to Kano State.

Wakili said opon receiving the report the Divisional Police Officer immediately led operatives to track down the truck, which was intercepted while heading towards Bauchi State

According to the statement, a preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the truck had made a detour around the Maraban Jos Trailer Park to take a bath and upon returning he discovered that the trailer was missing from where it was parked.

However, the operatives were able to recover the significant amount of goods that had been transported, including the truck. The statement added that the Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, Auwal Muhammad, has directed that a discreet investigation be carried out by the State Criminal Investigation Department, after which the suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
