Enugu State Government on Wednesday announced that it would grant a physically abused house help, Happiness Nwafor a scholarship, covering her education up to University level, alongside ensuring her rehabilitation.

As a survivor of child abuse, Happiness captured national attention for enduring inhumane treatment at the hands of her alleged employer, a female lawyer based in Onitsha, Anambra State.

While legal proceedings are ongoing, following the surrender of the accused lawyer to the Police after a N2 million bounty was placed on her, Enugu State Government is stepping in to provide comprehensive support for Happiness.
The Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs, and Social Development, Ngozi Enih, emphasizes that the Enugu State government’s actions, underscore its commitment to child welfare.
For Happiness’s mother, Nwanneka Anioke, she remains eternally grateful to the Governor, Peter Mbah for coming to her aid.
